The stories they told of their experience at the World War II Monument in Washington DC gave me and everyone there such an emotional & proud feeling. see photos and read more...

Flags Over Athens - The American Flags will be flying on Highway 31 on Flag Day and for Memorial Day. If you would like to have a flag flown in honor or in memory of your Veteran contact the Museum to purchase your flag! more information click here

Museum Wants Your Recipes!

The Alabama Veterans‘ Museum is collecting recipes for an upcoming fundraiser. They are looking for vintage recipes and for recipes that were your veteran’s favorite! They especially want recipes that showed creative use of products that were used during the war. Any anecdotes that go with the recipes are welcomed. The categories for submitting recipes are: Appetizers & Beverages, Desserts, Main Courses, Vegetables and Side Dishes, Soups & Salads, Cookies & Candy, Breads & Rolls, and This & That.

Recipes can be brought to the museum at 100 W. Pryor Street between 9 – 2 Mon – Sat. They can be mailed to Alabama Veterans’ Museum – RECIPES, PO Box 1500, Athens, AL 35612 or you can email them to chamilton0156@charter.net . Please note that there is 10 recipes limit per family. Recipes will be collected until Sept 1st. The cookbooks will available to purchase in time for Christmas, 2010.
