The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives
held a dedication to the memory of Joe Broadwater Saturday
July 18th 2009. The Museum received many donations when Mr.
Broadwater passed to be used in his honor.
This beautiful double sided wood and glass
gun cabinet was built in his memory by Nixon Cabinet Shop
and Athens Glass Co in Athens. The project was overseen by a
museum volunteer Mr. Ralph Green of Athens.
Mr. Broadwater's family & friends attended the ceremony with life long
friend Fred Martin as guest speaker. Mr. Broadwater's son,
Ben, also spoke to his father's love of the service, family, community and their families appreciation of this honor
to their father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Those family members in attendance are
Frances Broadwater (wife of Joe) Children Beth & Mike Maher, Nancy & Gary Mascuci, Ben &
Paula Broadwater. Grand children in attendance are Mike
Maher, John & Miranda Maher, Mary, Joe and Emily Broadwater
& 2 great-grand children, Dylan & Brooke Maher.
Thank you for your family's past and present service to our
country.
Appreciation plaques were given to museum
volunteer Ralph Green for overseeing the project, Nixon
Cabinet employee Gavin Trousdale, & to Athens Glass Co. by Director Sandra
Thompson for their work.
