The Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives
held their annual ‘Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon’ Tuesday
December 15th.
Col. Sam Gibbons was honored at the
luncheon for his many years of service as the museum’s Treasurer
as he now continues as a member of the Board of Directors. Mrs.
Linda Watson who has logged many volunteer hours & is a Board of
Directors member at the museum will receive the responsibilities
of Museum Treasurer.
Also honored at Tuesday’s luncheon was Mr.
Jackie Greenhaw. Jackie volunteered to serve as the Director of
our recent play, “We Interrupt This Program, Pearl Harbor
Remembered”, which was presented on December 6th.
The luncheon was sponsored by Col. Mel
McLemore. Col. McLemore sponsors the lunch each year as well as
participates in the Veterans Parade and has sponsored many
‘Coffee Calls’. The meal is prepared each year by Bob McAbee who
was a Master Sgt in the Army, is a member of the Board of
Directors and in charge of the building and grounds for the
museum.
It would be impossible to run this museum
without our many volunteers which include tour guides,
archivist, display workers and coffee call servers who were all
in attendance for this wonderful gathering and meal.
